There tend to be a few basic types of functionality – melee weapons, straight firing weapons, seeking/explosive weapons and a handful of upgrades (such as becoming stealthed). Where Crossout gets really interesting is in adding a variety of different weapons to your vehicle. But this is just the bones of your creation. Some rides turn on a dime, some accelerate quickly, others have more durable bodies and more. You start with your vehicle of choice, and as you would expect – the base design is important. I would argue that the most addictive aspect of Crossout is the substantial customization options at your disposal. You’re not just picking a weapon, a couple of attachments and perhaps adding a camouflage skin to your rifle. There is a lot more to the customization here than what you see in most shooting games. In fact, it is fair to say that there are two very distinct halves to Crossout – what you do on the field of battle and how you prepare in the garage. To that end, the aesthetic is pretty cool, though the visuals are not best-in-class, the muted brown landscapes and junk-heap looking vehicles do a nice job of selling the setting.īecause this is a free to play title, getting into Crossout is the key, and to that end the game does a nice job of holding your hand through some basic missions and coaching you on the basics of upgrading your vehicle. That is what leads us to our Mad Max-like post apocalyptic setting. It is a fun enough game, but there is a heavy grind involved unless you want to to drop some decent money into it.įirst and foremost, I was surprised to see that Crossout has a story of sorts with a narrative about a viral epidemic that swept the world and caused a great deal of trouble for the human population. However, while it is easy to get into the game, a handful of issues hold Crossout back from being must-play. If you’re a PS4 player, then you may be interested to hear that a couple of exclusive Crossout Founders bundles are available to purchase and those will give you early access to the game.Crossout is an interesting take on the online shooting genre, providing an easy model of entry via free to play. Alongside that, survivors will be able to try out enormous mechanical legs – an advanced way of traversing on the battlefield. There will be a surplus of new weapons of mass destruction, player guided rockets and wheeled combat drones (mini-cars with advanced firepower), all available. The full launch of Crossout will also introduce several new features including the military-inspired Steppenwolves as the fifth faction in-game. We cannot wait to see what they craft when we launch the game on PC and consoles,” said Stanislav Skorb, CEO, Targem Games. They have designed hundreds of thousands of never before seen machines, and more than 65,000 of them have issued blueprints for road warriors to emulate. In the Closed Beta, our players have crafted vehicles we never imagined possible, terrifying in design and deadly in their execution. “Crossout blends high-octane MMO gameplay with the unique ability to customize vehicles. Every choice, every weapon, every part brings with it pros and cons, and brings warriors one step closer to victory, or defeat. In Crossout, road warriors have the freedom to strategically build their own stockpile of combat vehicles from the ground up using hundreds of parts earned through victorious combats, crafting and trading. Parts and resources can be traded or sold with other players and that will just enhance the opportunities available in order to get the perfect killing machine you want. Advanced damage modeling will completely affect vehicle performance, as parts fly off, engine blocks explode, wheels and roofs tear away and vehicles pretty much vaporize. You can expect fast and heavy action as you create vehicles to your own liking.
